“Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom” – James Allen.

This blog article is specifically for the people who shy away from showing vulnerability, admitting when they make mistakes and tend to be perfectionists.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. This quote attributed to Albert Einstein is highly relevant to the path to inner peace I am about to share with you.

The 9th path on the journey to inner peace is to live your life authentically.

This premise has so many positive implications and relates to your general attitude to life and emotions.

There has been this trend about being authentic or living your life authentically, and I want to share why it matters on your path to peace.

Living your life authentically means that you live your life from a place of truth where your true self, your authentic voice, leads the way.

Do you sometimes feel that you lose your true self and feel lost on the path of life? The more you live your life inauthentically, the more you lose yourself along the way.

For example, do you stop to do the inner work and check how you feel without using your protective armour or brushing the negativity under the carpet?

If this rings true, how do you know what you need to change in your life if you are not honest or authentic with yourself?

What you fear the most is what you need to look at the most. If you are not honest with yourself because you are afraid of being vulnerable, you can use what I share with you in this article to progress towards more peace in your life.

Being authentic on your journey to peace is essential because you cannot be an instrument of peace and make healthy changes in your life if you are not honest with yourself.

Therefore, do not hesitate to bring your less favourable attitude to the surface, to acknowledge your mistakes to do better next time and to fall forward so that you can stand up faster should you want to progress. I know what you might be thinking: if you show vulnerability, this means you are a weak person, people will see you in a different light, and you might lose your power over others. However, this belief is far from the truth. On the contrary, when you show vulnerability, you strengthen your soul because you recognise your shortcomings and work towards improving yourself to be a better person.

Therefore I invite you today to look at one area of your life where you are not authentic or honest with yourself. Where perhaps you hesitate to show vulnerability or to look honestly at the situation. It could be in your finances, relationships, health or career.

Let us say it is in your finances. You do not acknowledge, for example, that your money struggle may be due to overspending. I was a shopaholic in my mid-twenties to early thirties, and I only recognised the signs a few years later.

Or perhaps you are not honest with yourself regarding your health? Are you being honest with yourself and going the extra mile to reach your goal? The actions you take toward accomplishing your dreams will bring you more peace; however, honesty and humility are necessary.

Another example is pride. Is your pride getting in the way? For example, you argue with a colleague; you know that you are wrong; however, you insist on being right out of pride. Such behaviour necessitates self-reflection in terms of the fear of losing face or credibility in front of others. Unfortunately, when you are not honest with yourself, you accumulate negative tendencies which disrupt your inner harmony.

Let us have an open heart conversation:

  • Where are you, honestly, in your life?

For the sake of peace, how could you live your life more authentically, follow your heart more and be more honest with yourself?

Consider now what area of your life you need to improve and bring out your honest and authentic self to find more peace of mind. I invite you, in particular, to consider an area you struggle with or feel stuck in your life.

Remember that honesty brings peace.
